Report of accidental fruiting of Cubensis on cardboard
    #3255590 - 10/20/04 12:39 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Well i thought id report this...

Sometime ago i though of taking some mycelium from a friends growbox and putting it on wet cardboard in a Petri dish.Nothing that interesting so far,i expected some growth just for the pleasure of watching it.

Rhizomorphic growth followed ,and let me say it was very agressive.I stopped looking when the upper face of the cardboard was totally colonized. So this morning my brother comes up to me and says "I looked at your experiment and mushrooms are growing"...My response was "C'mon Cubensis cannot fruit on cardboard" and he gave me a puzzled look.

To save the "Yes it does! No,it Doesnt" kind of argument i went to have and look and voila! Pins (4 of them) and also a very slim enlogated mushroom with a cap.Apparently Psilocybe Cubensis can fruit on cardboard, and the good thing is that cardboard requires no sterilisation whatsoever.Im sorry i cannot provide a picture for it but thats because i dont have a camera anymore....

So Bulk Cubensis grow on cardboard science fiction? I dont think so anymore...

(If all this is old news let me know,as well as the advancements with cardboard...)

OOops, this observation certainly does not belong to the "Advanced cultivation"

Would a mod please move it to a more appropriate category (grow logs?)

Thanks in advance

Hehe, yeah, it has been grown on paper before. Still, good score.

It may fruit but no bulk grows, that is common nutrient sense in my book.
