i have 2 glass's that are doing quite well, i was planning on putting them into seperate rubbermaid trash cans with plastic bags over the top, does this seem like a good idea, also.. can someone suggest another way of growing... one that would be more profitable? thanks much

profitable? hmm... let compare to a successful business... need skilled laborers, need reliable equipment, need solid procedures and policies, need outside consultants.
okay.. consultants-shroomery. taken care of.
procedures-shroomery - teks. taken care of.
equipment- yeah.. spend some money on it. It'll guarantee a much bigger return much faster.
laborer-that's you. get edumacated and read a lot and practice with ot without spores.
Is using 2 glasses and trash cans appearing to me at all? I think it's trashy idea. Are those 2 cups going to make you profit from the trash can... I don't think you'll even get the money for the spores IMHO from this crop. You can make a print and make your grow bigger.
I think thinking profit with 2 cups, 2 trashcans, and 2 plastic bags is realistic. But feel free to make me eat my words. I'd love to hear success from you.
Good luck!

>what do you guys suggest for a newb grower that's looking for cheapest most yielding method?
The cheapest methods are not the highest yielding. The highest yield are not easily manageable for newbies.
I would suggest that you start with the PF tek or one of its variations: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23019 and case some of the cakes.
Alternatively, you could prepare some grain jars and case them , for instance as outlined here: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/26177

I suggest you make PF jars using any PF Tek, use tub in tub to incubate the jars to get them 100% colonized, then use PMP for fruiting.
Did we lose Poormans Pod original post? can't find it. Someone?
