Casing Mycobags After First Flush
    #3253808 - 10/20/04 12:03 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

A foaf has a mycobag that has already produced about 3/4 of an ounce dry and he has to pick the final mushrooms growing on it within the next day. The mycelium was unusually aggressive in its fruiting and he is hoping to turn it into a casing.

Would it be best to dunk the bag first for under 24 hours in the fridge and then case it? Any suggestions? Could it be used for spawn?

I'm curious about this as well since I'm attempting a Mycobag for my first grow. However I plan on casing right out of the bag since I'd like the highest yield possible.

3/4 dry from the bag? Nice. Are you treating it well?

I suggest a weak h2o2 dunk say 12hrs. doesn't really matter if it's in the fridge or not just use "clean" water. It most likely has some contam spores on it but since it's totally colonized you can get away with making it into a casing when using an h2o2 dunk. GL

yeah, i wouldn't cold shock between, it would just slow down the mycelium's momentum. go for the casing though, great yields. good luck!

Would it be best to use a thin layer of of casing on the top and just let it continue fruiting?

1/4-3/8in. should do you fine. You'll need enough to sustain fruiting through several more flushes, you may want to even incubate that for 4-5 days covered with foil, this will help speed up the new casing run slightly and don't worry it won't confuse the myc it happens all the time in nature all season long!

Thanks for the help hyphae, the mycelium is already poking through the casing layer.
