Presidential Responsibility
    #3251998 - 10/19/04 02:55 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

What I love is the pick & choose over which issues are a metric of the prez's accomplishments.

Worst attack ever on mainland America? - NOT the prez's fault.

Worst budget deficit ever? - NOT the prez's fault.

Illegal immigration at all-time high? - NOT the prez's fault.

Highest per capita incarceration in history? - NOT the prez's fault.

Social Security funds illegally drained? - NOT the prez's fault.

Trampling of state's right? - NOT the prez's fault.

Price of oil at record highs? - NOT the prez's fault.

Now, before you guys get on your high-horse, I am also not saying these things are or are not his fault, but they did occur during his term. The question is how DO YOU DECIDE which things he IS and for which things he IS NOT responsible for?

Simple, if you're a Republican, EVERYTHING is Clinton's fault. If you're a Democrat, EVERYTHING is Bush's fault.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

What if you are an "independent" and not totally brain-washed?

I certainly hope that you aren't thinking that you, with your endless tirade of Bush-Sucks, and a conspicuous absense of anything showing why Kerry sucks, is "independant"

The only reason that I support Bush is because I think the War was the right thing to do. Other than that he sucks ass. Instead of trying to address real problems, he floats out a ban of gay marriage that he knew wouldn't pass. That only divided a nation that didn't need dividing. I wish so called conservatives could actually get some conservative legislation going to clear up some of the problems of our bloated government.

Social Security is failing, government schools are in a crisis, we have record deficits and government is huge. The solution is to bash faggots. Wow, that takes such courage and leadership. Maybe he needs to start drinking again.

And just for equal time, I may bash Bush but Kerry is the real nightmare to me. And I am talking complete fuckstick.

Will you be the first person to tell me what exactly this war is about? Why are we in Iraq?

Swami asks:

The question is how DO YOU DECIDE which things he IS and for which things he IS NOT responsible for?

Through logic and common sense.

Certainly -- as you correctly noted -- the seven things you listed aren't his fault. The steel tariffs were his fault, as is his disastrous "free meds for the aged" program and his amnesty for illegal aliens.

It's not hard to figure it out if you're moderately well informed and know how to think. What was your point in maiking this post? What process do you personally use in assigning fault and/or responsibility to the bad things that have occurred during the Bush presidency?
