"Why do liberals always boo?"
    #3252697 - 10/19/04 07:48 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I caught some of the Daily Show today, and Jon Stewart was interviewing what appeared to be a Republican. (forget his name)

Anyway, the Rep. mentioned he was voting for Bush and several people in the audience booed him for it. The Rep. made a statement then such as, "Why do liberals always boo?"

It struck me that I've never seen a Republican boo at a Democrat before. I'm sure that it happens, but I've never seen it happen much on TV.

What do you think?

Edit: the guest was Ed Koch, and he is a Democrat

The guy was a Democrat -- former NYC Mayor Ed Koch.

Ah, I see. He looked familiar. Do you agree with what he said, about liberals always booing?

You can see the same thing right in this forum.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

Both parties boo. It is really annoying and negative... but it RALLIES the people. Cheers and Boos... a political tradition.

They're immature. When they grow up they tend to become realists. Keep watching and you will see how the con artists use left wing philosophy to rob people.

Here's an example:

Jesse Jackson is a modern day highway robber who uses cries of racism to steal from individuals, corporations, and government, to give to himself, says veteran investigative reporter Kenneth R. Timmerman.
Until now, however, no one has been brave enough to say it and diligent enough to prove it. But Ken Timmerman has cracked Jackson's machine, found Jackson cronies willing to break ranks, and uncovered a sordid tale of greed, ambition, and corruption from a self-proclaimed minister who has no qualms about poisoning American race relations for personal gain.

Shakedown reveals:

* Jackson's massive defrauding of the federal government - and how both Republican and Democratic administrations have chosen to ignore it.

* Jackson's financial ties to Third World dictators - including Mohammar Qaddafi of Libya.

* Jackson's shocking private life - and his even more shocking public lies, including about his relationship with Dr. Martin Luther King

Other details must remain embargoed until publication, but one thing is for certain, Shakedown finally bursts the carefully constructed myths around Jesse Jackson and subject him to the critical scrutiny he's long deserved.

Kenneth R. Timmerman, a reporter with more than two decades of experience, has written for many magazines and newspapers including Time, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Reader's Digest, and The American Spectator, and has appeared on Nightline, Sixty Minutes, and many other television programs. He lives in Kensington, Maryland, with his wife and five children. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

That's just the way it is lately. Whether one agrees more closely with Republican policies or Democrat policies, no fair and objective observer can deny there is a lot more incivility and in some case downright hostility from the Dem supporters.

Same with outright violence -- the supporters of the Left are typically much more prone to vandalism (and worse) in support of their ideals. As for vote fraud, the Dems are past masters at that game and have been for as long as there have been Democrats. It's going to be a huge problem this election as well.

The "booing" thing, while noticeable and more than a little tedious, is at least in the long run meaningless.

I think liberal crowds tend to be young, idealistic, and pissed off at the system, so they're more likely to be zealous in their agenda, while conservative crowds tend to be older, more reserved, and more jaded.

Both groups boo. Watch Bush or Kerry speek. Both sides boo a lot. They just boo at different things. It is fascinating.

From my experience liberals are more vocal in general, but they do seem to boo a bit more and be less polite (so I have found). I think a good example is Real Time with Bill Maher.

The problem, tho, is that the rightwing has god on their side. This urges, compels, spectacular gesticulations and outcries.

See, I think the thing is that while liberals may feel the need to shout over others, conservatives don't need to because they just know they're right and don't need to convince anyone. If push comes to shove, they can just call the other side unamerican.

Watch ANY george Bush campaign speech. His crouds boo as loud as any. It is a different boo than on Bill Mahr, but it is a boo none the less. Conservatives boo all the time. I watched the convention.

thats true. any time he mentions "the other side" the whole crowd boos every time. I've also noticed that his crowds cheer at more stupid phrases and meaningless and redundant rhetoric than the average liberal seems to.
