I went picking up the coast of bc this weekend and...DAMN!!!! Found so many cyans its mind boggling I went to one patch and found at least 50 that had been stepped on. So many ppl are careless, make sure you look where you walk In most areas we found a few big shrooms, many medium size, and hundreds of pins!!!! Im really dissapointed i had to leave on monday cuz there were so many babies thatll be ready for picking in a few days. Here are some we found in my buddies grandmas yard
This is a couple of hours worth in a 10`X10` area
A few of us ate 3grams sun night, man are they potent this year

I transplanted a bunch last year I found a whole bunch of mycelium in grass and on small alder branches. We dug an area in my friends back yard, filled it with the mycelium and waited. Not much happened for the first 2 weeks so we covered it up with a little more grass to insulate. With a couple days shrooms started popping up, got a few but the season was over pretty quiky. In the early summer we took alder chips, boiled them, let them cool, and covered the patch with them. During the summer the chips got covered with mycelium. In the last 2 weeks a 2`X3` area has yeilded a dry ounce already, and there are tons of babies. I dont know if this is the best technique, but it is working for me, and we are making more of them very soon. Id put up a pic of some little guys from the patch but ive used up my quota for the day.

All of my patches are under Blackberry bushes. They grow on random pieces of wood, and in the grass. When I was showed my first patch when I was 14, I noticed how the area looked. Then I spent the next 8 years looking in places that looked like that. Im running about 9 patches, but Ive noticed that they are beginning to die off. Its time to find some new ones, or trade with people.
THEY DONT ONLY GROW ON ALDER CHIPS. But you'll find em on them.
My biggest patch ever grew in brown beauty bark on the side of a giant warehouse in SeaTac. The first harvest we ever did there when we were 16 yielded garbage bags full. It was SOLID cyans.

Just to recap a few posts that were lost:
Here are some pictures from the Monday morning findings. True blue cyans. There were at least 5 pounds at one spot in Seattle, most of it was left for the next hunter.
Blue ringer cyan (Cyanzii )
Borealis also mentioned that the wet/dry ratio in cyans was about 90%. A useful tidbit.

when your collecting and dont knwo what your doing is it usefull to have the mycelium for id? i know in some it is, and that is the reason i have been pulling them, for ids. if its not important then i definatly wont.
thanks.

For Cyans you DEFINATELY DO NOT NEED TO PULL THE MYCELIUM to make a positive ID. Trust me on this one.

Pulling up the mycelium only makes it harder for the area to recover. You should use a pair or sharp scissors to snip at the base so that the mycelium is not damaged and can keep producing.
