Fxck doctors (well, some of them)
    #3250224 - 10/13/04 01:59 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

So I got my medical records from my old therapist/psychiatrist (outpatient) and reviewed them with a private practitioner. The session notes were full of things that never happened, things I never said, and some of it looked like an eighth-grade student frantically catching up on his homework. A lot of it seemed copy/paste style. Session notes were missing. I was going on a weekly basis for 6 months and only four months were accounted for.

They knew I had a fear of "the men in white coats", and on one occasion, my psych was recommending meds but I told him I was doing fine what I was on. He stood up, left the room, and lo and behold, I got dragged out of there by the infamous men in white coats and escorted back to the highway by a cop. I was non-confrontational, calm, just adamant about not wanting to go on another med, since I was doing okay with what I was on. I was mostly like :wtf: At least I beat that fear with a stick.

I talked this over with my new doc. There were parts she wouldn't show me saying it would probably worsen my condition (anxiety, paranoia) and were obviously fabricated. She said it all didn't add up, and was surprised the psychiatrist even practiced in my state. It took a little bit over two sessions to clear out the misconceptions and fabrications these old doctors had put in my records. New doc knew this, as we had a few sessions before I had my records transferred (per my request).

She told me they had me plugged for hospitalization since day #1, and the time I got dragged out was probably part of the psychiatrist's plan to get me into hospitalization.

I only use a few vulgarities here and there and know when/where to use them, and am mostly calm because if not I'm tweaked from anxiety. I've been this way my whole life (except for the anxiety that surfaced last year). No fights but self-defense or fun (boxing), and a non-violent personality. Hell, I catch flies in my hands and let them go outside.

I'm still shocked! I went in there with a bit of an anxiety problem and an ex-gf's rape hanging over my head (which I later found out was fake), and left worse off.

I'm glad I got the hell out of there, but if anyone's seeking help now and feels like something fishy is going on, get a second opinion. It did me a world of good. I'm no longer a walking zombie from the heavy doses of un-needed medications I was given, and no longer tossing and turning at night thinking how horrible I am because I'm a schizophrenic (therapist/psychiatrist #1 diagnosis).

Current diagnosis? Low to moderate social anxiety.

And I'm doin just fine.

i dont like therapists for the reasons that they have their own agenda they are working on....

right on

Men look at themselves and they see flawed humans, we look at women and we see perfect
Women look at themselves and they seem utterly human, when looking at men they see proud

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

I'm glad everything worked out for you. Sometimes psychiatrists need more than a little psychotherapy themselves....
