Does my pH need buffered?
    #3249375 - 10/12/04 09:13 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys,
Just recased after the first flush and the friendly farmer wants to know if he needs to buffer the pH or if it will be ok. Should he pick up some calcium carb tomorrow or just reincubate his straw casings?
Thanks!

Also, should casing always be cold shocked between flushes?

Not at all that is only beneficial to pinning, dunking now between flushes doesn't have to be done in the fridge some do it in the fridge to keep contams to a minimum but I'll tell ya the fridge is full of contams they just multiple slower is all. I don't dunk casings myself never had to as I always keep my casings fully hydrated. I do add casing mix around my casings when gaps develop and they always do. GL

Wait a minute did you say recase? Why would you do that? You just threw away all you second flush pins! You are going to force that myc to do another casing run? Do your myc a real big favor just patch any exposed substrate that occured from harvesting and read up some more especially why you don't want to recase. Recasing is only done after scratching overlay. Don't waste their valuable energy on running thats a vegetative thing and they're in the generative mode (clue)
