Buspar and mushrooms?
    #3248007 - 10/12/04 06:40 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I just started taking buspar for anxiety, and AFOAF is also just about to be harvesting a crop of mushies. So I was wondering if buspar will have the same effect that SSRI's have on psychadelics, lessening the effects. Any help or info is appreciated.

Buspar...is that bupropion? If it is, then it's more of a dopamine reuptake inhibitor (DRI), and so should not really affect the trip much at all

Actually, it's buspirone which has a high affinity to serotonin receptors, or atleast scientists suspect.

Not a lot is known on the interactions. I've heard reports of very adverse side effects (symptoms of serotonin syndrome) when combined with PEAs and dulled experiences on mushrooms (tryptamines).

It's not without risk. If you must, start low on your dose of mushrooms.
