Ok. So i live in England, and reading the FAQ's etc i know what kind of mushrooms im looking for. But im just not finding them!
I have been hunting a couple of times now, in some fields near to where i live. Ive found several types of mushroom, some that i dont have a clue what they are, and some tht i wish were Liberty Caps..But arnt
The only thing that i found that was slightly more promising, is these tiny grey/light brown mushrooms. They have a really thin stem, about 20mm long i guess, with little heads, about 10mm wide..with what i thought was a nipple on the head.
I thought these were liberty caps, but my mate says that Libertys are a lot bigger really.
Im just asking for any info that might help me out really. If any that is
If you're looking in fields you are probably on the right track...
I've found loads of what I assume are some type of mycena in the same area I think Libs should be growing. They really got me excited at first but the spore print didn't come out right. I can spot these fakes from a distance now and avoid them.
The best advice you're going to get is to keep looking and have patience. It takes time to train your eyes. I get better and better every time I go out. Try and hunt another shroom while hunting for Libs ... you'll have a better chance of being rewarded, and it will help you learn how to hunt. Even if it isn't active.
I think once you find a Lib, you'll know it.. And you will be very happy I get a good gut feeling when I find a shroom I'm looking for. Always ID first
