amount of cool mist needed...please helps

I have these balls...baseballs actually....no actually, they're piggy banks....anywho, these plastic orbs measure 8inches diameter and have a cylindrical base on them that lets them stand.
The lid attachs at the top to allow entry...
I now have perlite and water humidificaation with a total of 1 cake per orb...but I want to try and use the cool mist i have...I have some hose and plan on attaching 2 peices of it to go to each orb (with a film case at the end of each to prevent drippage...) Now, my question is...how long per day would suffice, if I were to take out the perlite, to run this? also , how big a hole should be put in the bottom? oh yeah, and is there any risk of contams when using a coolmist in a possibly dusty environment?

A coolmist would probably be a little overkill for that size setup. But if you want to do it I would suggest maybe 4 hours on over the course of a 24 hour period. There shouldn't be any problem with contams unless the area is incredibly dusty. You should think about getting a fish tank they are much more convenient.
