Can someone shed some light on me?

Ok I made 16 jars. The first batch of eight I only used 40cc of water with 1/4c brf and 1/2c verm. Had signs of growth since day three, but it seems the mycelium is fading? And the other eight jars I used pond water and 60cc of water and they look very healthy and bright. Why is the first batch fading? There are no visible signs of contams and no bad smells. And both jars have good stringy growth. What is going on? Since the begining I could tell the first batch was starved for water- is that all this amounts to, cause if it is I have better things to do that to take up space with these slugs. The other eight jars I did are doing much better than the first.

If they are just dry, you can save them by injecting water w/ a syringe. Don't ask me how much water, etc.. You'll have to use your best judgement based on how they look. Just be real clean about it.

Can I just inject more spore solution? It is already sterile and will save me alot of time. I have af few 3/4-1/2 full syringes at my disposal.

Well, I guess.. Seems like a waste of spores. Sounds like you'll want 5-10cc per jar. That's a lot of spores for a risky procedure. Also, if the syringes are used, they may be unsterile. In general, this is not a hobby where you can set saving time as a high priority. At least you've learned something about moistening your substrate.
