Ok, so ive been doing pretty good with my PF cakes but just recently i had a problem. Im relizing that my yeilds SUCK. I know your all going to say go casing. but hell cakes are pretty cool. Im just curious why i am having such small yeilds. Im talking 7 grams wet per cake, small mushrooms lots of aborts. humidity very high temp fluxing from 70-75 all dunked and rolled between flushes. BTW this is the 4th flush on my first grow. please let me know whats up?

4th flush with cakes is usually small.
All cakes are, typically, way lower-yielding than casings. Way.

You said it all in 4th flush like Ayrios said.
Cakes are spent pretty fast. Especially PF style ones because you are using only like 40 ml BRF compared to 140 ml vermiculite per jar. BRF is providing all the nutrients, the verm is there for water retension.
Substrate is probably about finished. Throw it outside if it's warm where you live and start an outdoor patch.

I've got 10 jars I'm about to inoculate tomorrow. When (if) they're all colonized should I let them stand as rolled cakes or should I case them? What about 5 and 5? If I case, would a simple straight verm. case work well?

A friend just did 8 half pint cakes cased in the Ryche Hawk 50/50+ TEK and got almost an ounce dried on the first flush

Case them all. Straight verm works ok but IMO you should mix some coco coir or peat moss with it. The mycelium doesnt grow so hot throw stright verm. At least not horticultural grade, maybe a courser one would be better though.
If you do keep any as cakes (many do half as casings and keep half as cakes) roll them in dry verm and mist them till moist. Also relize that many of the people who case half and keep half as cakes with they cased them all in the end, not all, but most I've read about do.

That's an OK idea if you have two fruiting chambers where you can supply different conditions to each. My understanding is that cakes want different conditions from casings. Pick one and go with it

It's not too bad if you have ~95% humidity and mist frequently with a pump sprayer.

Cakes will still fruit in cases conditions. Just lower your RH to about 85%. Correct me if I'm wrong of course. - Silven (Mis-wording fixed)

High RH shouldn't matter for casing. It's just a way to supply water just as you don't let water droplets accumulate.
But I'd think it'd be a waste of time to flush a spent cake in a case. Maybe should spawn to poo first.

I just read the TEKS as looking for different ideal conditions. Myself, I would do one TEK (casing) and the other (cakes) just once for a comparison. I think the shrooms are pretty forgiving once you get them out of the jar

Cakes and casings can be fruited together..just keep the humidity at like 95% and the casings will do fine and this is what cakes call for (95+)

Ok, 5 and 5 it is then. Thanks for answering a question before I even posed it--I was going to ask about the need for different humidity levels but now I don't have to. Just one last thing--with the casing--it should be incubated with seran wrap over it for a few days until I see myc on top of the casing layer, correct? Then stick it in the fruiting chamber along with the cakes, correct? THANKS AGAIN.

Correct.
Before sticking it in you might want to cover the myc you see comming up with some fresh casing mix. Only cover up the myc though, don't get any extra on the casing where theres no myc showing yet. This gives the rest of the casing time to catch up to these early patches. Then mist it down well and throw it right into your fruiting chamber. It will finish colonizing the casing layer in the chamber then fruit (give it time though, patience is required here). This is called patching and isn't needed but you will most likly get a better pinset and better yeild if you do.
