West Virginia Amanitas?
    #3240233 - 10/10/04 09:47 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I found these on a golf course under a pine tree near Charleston WV. They were quite yellow when I found them two days ago. Obvious veil and bulbous stem. No spore print yet...I'm assuming it'll be white.
Any help is appreciated.
Rob

Bulb is not flattened and is solid. Spores are white.
Wart pattern is quite regular unlike my guides picture of citrina which seems to be more patchy and irregular.

The volva suggests Amanita muscaria to me. There are enough yellow to tan capped Amanita species that accurate identification is anything buy trivial.

Happy mushrooming!
