Substrate question
    #3235741 - 10/09/04 06:14 AM (13 years, 15 days ago)

I mixed my substrate using the "simple cubensis growing technique" and it came out looking a little different from every picture I've seen. It almost looks like I used to much BRF the whole cake looks more whitish and the vermiculite is less visible is this a problem?. I'm thinkin it's because I haven't sterilized yet and the heat involved might change it's appearance. It's my first attempt at growing and any help is appreciated.

Max fruiting formula calls for 1/4cup BRF and 1/2 vermiculite. I grind my rice, so they are a bit more coarse, but it does appear a bit more BRF color. It does take a more vermiculite color once you cook it. As long as you put more verm than BRF, go ahead and sterilize your jars.
