Mescaline a/b Extraction
    #3234440 - 10/08/04 09:42 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I've found a few links about extracting mescaline via an a/b extraction much like DMT from MHRB. A few questions

1) can I use HCl instead of sulfuric acid?

2) What is the best source? Peruvian torch skins? What part of the cactus, and which specific species, would contain the most mescaline?

thx

if your doing extracts why not use the whole cacti?

if your picky do the skin in a seperate batch. may as well get whats in the flesh while your extracting the skin.

Use whole or de-cored cactus.

Yes, you can use HCl, it's a lot easier to work with than sulphuric because any excess acid will evaporate off your mesc. Doesn't grow as big and nice crystals as the sulphate salt, though.

But don't add it drop by drop to the NPS like you would do with sulphuric.

The common procedure with it is add a few drops to 250ml of water, add a fair amount of this solution to your xylene, separate and evaporate water/HCl using some mild heat to make sure all the acid has completely evaporated.

You'll be left with crude mescaline hydrocloride  :crazy2:

Check the nook's extraction methods if you haven't yet!

I'll be damned...!  Now I looked back earlier this year if there was an extraction method, and could only find "Pedro Syrup"...!  I must not be pedro friendly, cause my body would NOT allow me to ingest any of that bitter green foul tasting stuff...!  I spent a whole day making it + the price, and couldn't do it....  I was bummed....

This sounds MUCH more promising...!  :tongue2:

I also just found this post by Nan within the link you posted:

"The hydrocloride salt is not nearly as potent as the sulfate, and the yeild is lower due to it's greater solubility. Bad idea"

ChoW~

Hehe, yes i was pretty amazed with the simplicity of these teks when i found them too. Especially the mescaline carbonate tek.

About the HCl salt. That's not true and Nan probably knows better. That's probably from an old post or something. [EDIT: With all due respect to Nan, of course. The guy is a cactus god, and knows a lot more about these subjects than i do. But I think it's either an old post or some sort of confusion]

It is now quite consensual that HCl does as fine as H2SO4 for salting mesc. If i understand correctly, the only difference is that the suphate salt crystalizes better and is slightly less potent than the hydrocloride.

Yields will be lower by weight because 1 mescaline sulphate molecule weighs 11% more than 1 mescaline HCl molecule.
Thus mescaline HCl is roughly 1,1X more potent than mescaline sulphate. Check erowid if you don't believe me. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mescaline/mescaline_dose.shtml

This means that a lower HCl yield doesn't matter at all because the amount of mescaline base will be the same [300mg HCl produces the same effects as 333mg sulphate].

Check http://archives.thenook.org/2966.html . You'll see
*that most recent teks recommend HCl to the layman
*that if you use sulphuric you'll have a lot more work to do than just evaporate some water.

(crude mescaline HCl)

Esin:  Thank you thank you thank you...!  That last link has much more descriptive links/teks...!  Must be the stuff in the first link you posted was out of date....

I would be the laymen looking for the simplest way, plus I already have HCL acid (muriatic)....

I might have to give pedro another whirl...!

Thanx~ again...!

Very interesting technique. I think that I'd still recommend the battery acid (from a automotive store, rather than from a battery), just to end up with mescaline sulfate.
