I't's compressed mycelium. It comes from the mycelium and is used to store nutrients. It's like a flower bulb, but better-some sclerotia can get so dry that you can burn them, but upon rehydration, they can still produce mushrooms. Sclerotia look like little truffles or rasins, except a different color depending on the species. Morel sclerotia is very hard when dried and has the consistency of a potato when wet.
