MycoBags???
    #3221996 - 10/06/04 09:34 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

Has anyone on this forum ever succesfully grown shrooms out of a mycobag? If so how easy or hard was it to grow in one?

i know of friends that use autoclavable bags and it is very easy. the myco bags are even simplier since you are doing no work.

I used some grain mycobags my first time, and actually got more contams with the bags than with polyfil filtered jars.  Not sure why, I used the same procedure for sterilization, cleaned the whole place up with lysol and flamed/alcohol swabbed the needle.  Maybe I just had bad luck the first time.  But jars are way cheaper in the long run, anyway, and they're not that hard if you read up on 'em thoroughly before trying. :goodluck:

search the forums there are lots of pic of bags fruiting.
i harvested about 70gs wet first flush, and it looks about the same for the second( about 7 days later) from a small rye bag, they are good to get you going on the myco-road, but after youve started you will want to build a f'n clean room and lab, i should know better than to start a new hobby.

I would advise throwing $20 in jars, polyfill, and wbs then buying pre filled mycobags and having nothing to re-use. If anything buy spawn bags and zip ties and make your own bags.

Do zip ties seal them enough? I was checking out some spawn bags and was wondering what you have to use to seal the end you put your grains into... I dont have the funds to buy a impulse sealer or whatever.

A $20-40 (ebay) impulse sealer works best, but you can use two zip ties to seal the top just as well.

First put one around the neck with about 2-3" extra then fold the extra over at the first zip tie and put another zip tie 1/2" below the first zip tie. It should look like this but not as shitty :P

Dont buy the large bags there made of shitty plastic, buy the mediums with filter patch. Inject and either hot glue/tape or you can inject at the top below the seal/ties and throw another zip tie or two below the hole.
