Burying cakes
    #322769 - 05/21/01 07:22 PM (23 years, 3 months ago)

If I buried a colonized cake a couple centimeters under the ground in my backyard, would I have mushies popping up in a few weeks? Or would the mycelium just die? Would it keep growing and growing? that would be really cool.

A noble end may justify shameful means. But when the end is shameful, what then?-Aldous Huxley (Point Counter Point)

Get a bucket, turn it upside down above your burried cake, take out bucket a couple hours a day so it can get some light and also mist a couple times a day when you have the bucket above the cake. I did this to a pile of horse shit near my house (I'm crazy you know ;))), now it has grown some mycelium and little shrooms are starting to come out, if it's paneolas i'm the luckiest man on earth!

Cheers,
MAIA

BTW, Luck is the most important factor on what you did. So if you ever get something from that cake consider your self a lucky man.

bury them in some good nutritious soil and water the spots every 3 days. I dont do this around my house, but I know of 4 landscaping jobs near the local mall that fruited last fall. i asked the landscapers what soil they used and it was a peat/sheep manure mix covered in woodchips. you may also want to scrape a spore print near these hospitable sites. i dont think burying them in the dirt thats on your front lawn is going to be successful.
