Accidently broke a casing in a half, will it be ok
    #3226780 - 10/07/04 12:02 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I thought I had too much casing soil on top of a casing. The casing was about 13 by 9. So I turned it upside down while holding on the the edges to shake some off the casing soil off. Well the cake broke in half when I did. I put it back into the tray. I think it will be ok. It broke into two pieces. I had not started to fruit yet. Had been in the fruiting terrium for about a week.

It'll probably be fine... although you might have a problem with contamination in that spot, se be extra careful about that.

Why isn't this in the cultivation forum?

Any and all references to growing are completely facticious, all pictures shown unless specifically stated are stock photographs found via google image search.

I've broke MANY a casing in half draining after a soak or trying to get shrooms on the sides or bottoms. Push it back together and throw A LITTLE casing mix or moist verm on the seam (or in between). If you can't seen any uncolonized substrate then you should be ok, if you can then you need to put verm or casing mix over it.

Growing with bags, start to finish (including my new grain and substrate prep)
Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
How I do grain (old still good tips)
Turn your closet into a fruiting chamber
Casing layer colonization and overlay
