The seeds should be fine.

It sounds ok but you never know without trying. I've seen cubies grown on lots of things (including a bible, a bra, and a qp of white widdow).

Check out arts and crafts stores for straw. Also Pet stores, they feed it to rabbits or something. But there are other things besides straw! Rye berries (health food stores, feed stores), rye grass (walmart, home depot, any garden place), WBS (wild bird seed, in pet stores, try and get one with few sunflower seeds), popcorn, brown rice flour and verm (look up PF Tek/PF Cakes). Besides of course poo and such but if you can't find straw I dont think poo would be easier to find. I love rye, easy to work with and pretty cheap. Hard to find though. Popcorn and WBS are pretty good semi bulk substrates that are easily found and cheaper then rye too.

"life is like a drop of rain getting closer and closer to falling into a lake, and then when you hit the lake there is no more rain drop, only the lake."

Growing with bags, start to finish (including my new grain and substrate prep)
Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
