amount of light?

How many hours of light per day could 2 cakes get by on using two nightlights (basically clear xmas bulbs)? (i'm looking for a minimum amount of time) Will these lights suffice?

A 12 on 12 off cycle is what most people use. Though only a few minutes of light a day will do. It's up to you as to how long the light stays on. And there should be nothing wrong with using nightlights.

They will actually grow in the dark, but they will grow in some funkyass directions with no light to guide them. That's what I've heard anyways, but the "harder" strains to get pinning probably wouldn't get going at all without light.

A couple hours a day would be more than enough.
