You can shake pf if its in quarts and 2/3-3/4 filled and you make a loose mix. It would help colonization but why not just go to superior grains.

What would you consider to be superior grains? Rye and popcorn?

In order; Rye, WBS, popcorn especially when it comes to fruiting on grains IME. Reiterating do not shake PFTek (BRF) jars.

Depends on what you are doing.

If you are using to spawn, WBS is the best.

For casing however, Rye is king.

Thats what I had stated. If we we're talking spawn I have in my experience found WBS to clump where as Rye breaks apart in to individual grains much easier I'm sure anyone who has experienced each would agree. I'll stand behind rye all the way  WBS and corn have come to the mycology world in the last couple of years as alternatives to rye, I'm only speaking from personal experience and also experience of many of my growing buddies.

Sounds like Rye is the way to go from now on.   anyone feel crazy and want to post a tek to rye or should I not be lazy and find it myself?

WBS also makes for some nice solid shrooms and it's cheaper and easier to get. I've done many more bags of WBS than rye but thats why I can say rye is better IMHO. But I suggest you try both and see for yourself which one is right for you
