Questions About Simple Cubensis Growing Technique
    #3224168 - 10/06/04 08:38 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

3 Questions really, does this work with Weilli as well as it does with Cubensis? Does the perilite stay damp enough to keep the humidity up for the entire fruiting of the cakes once they are colonized? And, other than the colonization time is there any other advantage to 1/2 pint jars over pint jars?

Attention. Noob post, take with pinch, next to no experience here.

1: dunno what a weilli is.

2:look at my post about broken perlite fella, dont add any water to it unless it dries up and stops misting the case. You shouldn't lose much water as its a mostly closed system anyway apart from fanning.

3: more half pint jars to the incubator = more leeway for chucking contaminated jars. If u lose a pint jar u lost 2 1/2 jars I suppose.

#1 I've no experience with Weilli but I would not recommend it to a newbie.
#2 Perlite does not replace mistings or automation. It does stablize the RH beautifully though!
#3 My personal preference when doing cakes would be 1/2pts. bc they're easy to work with but as far as if theres any advantage IMHO there is none as far as the big picture is concerned. GL

So I will still have to use the ol' spray bottle to keep the humidity optimum, until I can spend the time to create a cool mist setup. I was just confused by the guide I because I thought that what was meant was that I would have to do very little to maintain the humidity of the terrarium. Anyway, I probably shouldn't ask this but I just wanted to make sure RH stood for relative humidity. Thanks for replying.
