Just out of weird curiosity what would happen if I added n,n-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) to a MMGG jar, just befor i boiled it? I heard something about it making the shrooms 3x more potent when they grow

wouldn't the mycel. just break down the DMT ? that is what fungus does. why do people think that by growing something in a chem the plant/fungus will assume some of the chems properties, if this was true then we would be growing apples in weed just so we could eat an apple on the street/park/church... whatever and get stoned without cops bitching.

If you pressur cooked it for an hour at 15 psi you would probably destroy most of the DMT. But if you just paturized your jar in boiling water ~100C derees without lettin jar touch bottom of pan then the Dmt should be ok, Cuz i think i read at Erowid, that DMT is vaporized or destroyed at 120C. I could be wrong, you should check it out. But 100C might not kill all contams so it might be better to introduce it after sterilization, but then again you run into other problems, when you open jars to add DMT, hummm I guess this should be left for the advanced grower

dr shulgin was reporting the work of a german mycologist, who added various tryptamine derivatives (such as DET) to mushroom cultures, getting 4OH substitutions on the indole ring... adding DMT to shroom cultures would increase the psiloc(yb)in levels in the mycelium & carpophores, but most people who have dmt might just prefer to keep the dmt for ummmmm personal pyrolation protocols... and adding tryptophan or tryptamine, and maybe a methyl-group source, would probably work almost as well, and be easier to get as well... tryptamine and tryptophan could be obtained from chemical suppliers or veterinary food supplements, and food sources rich in trp include milk, turkey, and sunflower seeds (i'm sure there are other foodstuffs as well) --- just add some sunflower seed meal to your ricecakes & maybe some trimethylglycine or DMAE or something, & maybe a multimineral supplement... i dunno...

i never had problems using basic pot-ster method plus my city is fairly above sea level so my water boils only at about ~93-95C as long as you leave em in there for an extra 30min everything should be fine.

Hey Bud - According to CB Gold in Psychedelic Monographs and Essays, #6 (T. Lyttle, ed.) in the article 'The Mushroom Entheogen: Part 3a - Nutritional Influences on Growth and Psychedelic Biosynthesis,' page194, he says: "Tryptophan is an important amino acid in the synthesis of psilocybin. One may rightly think that adding this amino acid to the media may increase the final psilocybin production. Apparently this is not the case....Analysis of carbon-14 uptake by p. cubensis in liquid culture showed that tryptophan is not directly used by the mushroom to produce psilocybin and the addition of which will not increase the total amount of psilocybin." Apparently, production must be approached at a more fundamental level. "The addition of dextrose yielded the greatest benefit, followed by TMI (trace minerals) and lastly ammonium succinate-glycine. In combined form, the TMI/dextrose was significantly better in growth and biosynthesis than either supplement singularly (p.193)." The TMI is a product from a company called Trace Minerals, Inc., and comes from clay from the ancient Columbia riverbed in Oregon, and contains "trace amounts of just about every metallic element." I've personally used crushed GNC mineral tabs added to the water for the PF type cakes. It's all so variable, and I'm not a biochemist, but it may well have boosted potency.
