casing with no chamber? how good is it
    #3218885 - 10/05/04 05:52 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

i have some mycobags on the way. i want to try casing the cheap mans way. get a big tin pan, put the vermic. on the bottom, crumble the mycelium'd bag(s) in to that then cover that with more vermic. to top it off, wrap the whole tin in plastic wrap and poke some holes in it.

how effective will this casing method be, with lack of fruiting chamber and mixing compounds for the casing layers?

i live in hawaii, temps arent a problem.. will this casing method work better than if i let the bags fruit within themselfs?

Why not spend the extra five dollars, throw the casings in a large rubbermaid bin, spray the sides and fan for air exchange. Would make a large difference between having no chamber at all.

No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious.

I like that idea. When I find a large rubbermaid 6-10gal container I will pick it up. Thanks for the advice both of you. I will do the casing in tin pans inside a rubbermade storage bin.

mahalo!
