Tips for Ants?

I am looking for tips to keeping ants away. What I use now is diomatacious earth, but it is a bit expensive for some grower's tastes.

First of all it sounds like your growing outdoors, are you? if so try putting down about a 2 inch wide, inch tall circle of Ajax around your crop. keep it at least 6 inches or more away from the outer edge of the growing area. they hate this and usualy wont cross it.

urinate all over your brothers kneecap. for at least 4 minutes. while chanting "ant be gone" like a cave man might if he could chant.
