I live in severna park, maryland and shrooms have been hard to find lately so me and a friend have been hunting alot. Well today I was walking down the street with him to my house and right on the side of the road we spoted a patch of mushrooms, they were growing around some hay. So we thought it wouldnt hurt to try so we picked them and came up with this. the stems are 1-3 inches long and the caps are 1-3 inches wide. The gills seem to be yellowish and the caps are a brownish orange color. One or two of the mushrooms had a wierd indentation. No spore print yet. Heres some pics:

these are from my camera phone sorry about the quality. tell me what you think.

What were they growing from? And we'll need a spore print to ID them. Do they bruise blue?

Please take a look a the forum rules thread and provide us with an accurate description.

Yea knowing the exact habitat would help a lot in this case... And even if it appears to be growing from the dirt, remember it could also be associated with roots or some burried wood/plant material.

That spore print is too faint to accurately determine color; let the caps sit over night for a heavier print. They look like Gyms to me, but this is only possible if they were growing from wood. Another possibility is some species of Cortinarius, which may be deadly. Describe the smell. Every gym that I have encountered shares a distinct sweet smell.
