Limehouse Blues
    #3216442 - 10/04/04 11:03 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I'm having a god-aweful time finding crushed limestone and dolomite lime in my area for use with cactus soil. I've tried all the local nurseries I know of, home depot, and wal-mart with absolutely no luck at all. I realize it's not necissarily essential for growth, but it's my first run in the world of growing cacti from seeds and I want to do it right. Any suggestions on places to look for these items?

Look for Limestone paver at Home Depot. This is basically sandy limestone with nice sized limestone chips. I then use a cheap screen to screen out the chips.

To some mixtures I add some of the limestone sand and to some the chips.

Yeah I had no luck with that. I checked the entire outdoor section of home depot for anything that might contain limestone and found nothing.

That's what I said too, but as of yet no luck. I've even had friends look for it while they were there incase there's just something about my general mental state that prevents me from noticing such things, but they had no luck either.

I'm starting to think that I've missed something...I've checked several home depots and other garden centers in several different towns and still no luck. Is it possible that maybe it's labled as something else? Pavestone seems to provide the rock and sand for almost everplace I've checked so far, do they lable their limestone as something else? It's quite frustrating.... Anybody got any ideas?
