Pressure cooker help, whatd you think?
    #3216908 - 10/05/04 12:49 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I just had a quick question. Can you stack jars inside a pressure cooker, or should they all be on the same level? my friend stacked them, and his seemed to maybe get a tiny bit contaminated, but im not sure exactly what they were, some kind of worm. But it coulda been from something else too. Anyhow any help is apreciated, Thanks in advance!

From all my reading of guides for growing, I've seen pictures of the jars just stacked up in the pc. some standing upright on the bottom, then more on their sides on top of those.

I just recently opened one of my jars cause it started to look contamed and I noticed there was quite a few worms crawling around. Tiny little white ones, WTF is up with that? How the hell did they get in there?

And yes, you can stack them.

Sounds more like maggots.

How long are you guys PC-ing that it don't kill maggots 5 minutes? When your PC gets up to proper pressure, gentle rocking motion for PCs with a weighted rocker. Let it go for 45 minutes from there. I would just set my stove eye to medium, it will take 20 to 30 minutes to get to proper pressure, which is what you want you don't want to heat them up to fast. Then 45 minutes, turn off, and let cool naturally at least 8 hours. I don't cook anymore but when I did that's what I did. And the Presto brand they sell at Wal-mart worked fine, they have a valve that let's them free steam for a while, then seals to prevent dry air pockets so you don't have to worry about it yourself. Just put the weight on, turn on medium and keep an eye on it. And yes you can stack them. Good luck guys.
