Organic tell me what you think of the idea of mold resistent. Lets say a sativa dominent "mold resistent" stain as the case study.
I feel that a sativa being"mold resistant" is only do to the fact that sativas live in warmrr climates and there fore never truely die when flowering. The hairs often turn orange only after cutting. With this being said the plant isnt weak before harvesting. It is still ful of live and vital energy.
Now comes the S&P stuff since this plant has a higher life force then its indica sisters people notice an uplifting energizing high. With indicas the life force is shorter lived and its growth is more sedated much like its high. Its hairs turn red quick meaning its life force is shuting down and dwindeling away.
Just a corelation of my friends thoughts and my interpretation on them.

Indicas are prone to mold more because the buds are far much bigger and thinker on a shorter base, where as sativas grow more outstreched and thinner stringer buds. The humidity also plays a large role as well if you have a big fat indica at 60 plus humidity it's very likely going to mold in the center of the bud. Some strains are specifally breed to get certain phenotypes that are more mold resistant as well.

So you dont agree with my idea that since indicas are dieing quicker and before the growing season is done, that they are more suseptable to mold because of there weak/shutting down imune system?
I have seen some pretty meaty sativas in my time.

hehe while i give you it's an interesting theory ..it's just that not much to back up the theory where at the consistancy and size of a bud and humidity are far more likely things that can be scientifically shown as things that would effect mold growth on the buds, but who knows maybe i'm just a crazy old fart who smokes to much ganja

Sheik: I think a lot of molds are native to certain areas. Blackberry bushes always seem to mold up around my plants signalling that in a week or two the plant will be affected. The Belize strain had mold on one of the two main colas that I've had to trim down every time it gets humid for a few days. It is as close to a pure sativa as you will find anywhere.
However, the mold spreads much less quickly on the sativas. The sativas grow slower too though, so in a way I agree with your theory of the indicas weaking due to maturing faster.
