Just some pics
    #3212742 - 10/04/04 05:02 AM (19 years, 5 months ago)

here are some pics

here is bundle flowers, there  is also some datura seedlings in the background there.

Here are some Heimia salicifolia

A Datura Metel in recovering- this plant was given to someone and was abused and taken back

Nicotinia Tabacum  growing well. I have 8 tabacum and 8 rusticas, all doing well. On the next pic you can see 4 small Nicotiana glauca , they grow much slower than the other two.

Salvia growing just fine

Rock Dagga

Rivea corymbosa

About the last one, as you can see in one pic the stem has been cut  , will this recover? should I do anything with it? cut it in an angle or something? or will it heal? i was hoping to keep this one over winter and put it outside.

New seedlings are khat. will post pics later. they have just sprouted from seeds, i had to use pure verm to get them to sprout, everything else failed.

Nice collection you have there. in a few years those plants will take over your house and transform it into a jungle

I just remembered I have Heimia seeds but I've never planted them. I should do this soon. is it easy to germinate?

yes I found them easy to germinate. Alot more seeds than I expected germinated. this plant grows deep roots so you shuold have some space between the seeds and seperate them early. i used a verm\perlitte\potting soil mix and threw the seeds on the surface and barely covered the seeds. and misted them until they sprouted. They grow slow. they like bottom watering and good air circulation and also a place near a window with sun.

Another thing I have found out now with Sinicuichi non cultivation related is that this is a kick ass herb to combine with hash. I bought some Sinicuichi and have experimented a little. They work very well together.

Well, i have two daturas. the largest one and the one you see right behind the bundle flower in the close up pic is datura metel "golden queen" or so the seed package says. the other two, you can see in the back in the top pic the seed package says "datura meteloides - evening fragrance (white)" .

the stem is purple first but turns green after an inch. The other young one has purple stem.

Awsome! are thsoe bundleflower and heimia the ones that you had in that post with a TON of your seedlings? gives a good time to size scale if it is. i jut planted my heimia, how long you say it takes to get say about a foot tall?

the rivea will do fine, they are weeds.

brown leaves happened to me for a few reasons. nitrogen, too dry, and light was too intense (heat accompanied with it). too little nitrogen gave me brown, too much gave me yellow then brown. too much water gave me yellow and rot, too little gave me brown and fairly quick dropping. light, well dont put them in direct sun at 35+c....

The venation of the leaves of that supposed Coffea arabica look right, the leaves alsoexhibit a pretty close match in shape. Are the leaves waxy?

Nice collection.

It might also have to do with to little humidity. My salvia browns out along the outer margains when I bring it inside for the winter.

mine's still outside, and in seattle... i dont think its humidity so much  the browning was less after it was moved outside but unfortunately colder temps will mean it's coming inside soon... how do y'all keep up humidity indoors for it?

and i'm giving it some good ole fish emulsion tonight to see if it's a nitrogen problem.

thanks guys, and i dont mean to distract from your thread mystiq, you have GORGEOUS plants!!!! :sun:

i personalyl never had a problem with humididy inside. i just put it somewhere that ahd more than normal. kithen window, living room by th efish tank. but i have ahd it in my bedroom under lights and it did fine. but they can certainly suffer from lack of humidity sometimes.

thos elook liek coffe that i grew from seed, but i know what you mean they look nothing liek they do in stores. i dunno why they are different, i am only guessing it has to do with shitty conditions. the only diff between mine and yours were mine were not as wide leafed, and perhaps a little darker. but still not those narow plastic like plants i see at the grocery sotre.

thanks

Blackening of the elaves often arises from two possible and perhaps seemingly contradictory things.

In one case, fluxuations in humidity can cause black edges and some encroachment of the necrosis.

In another case, high humidity with stagnant air that doesn't circulate to well coupled with increased temrperatures can cause rot and spreading necrosis.
