Grow Room Question??

I see people with friends that have small grow rooms with the whole room being humidified and shelves which house the trays. My question is: does there still need to be concern with air exchange? Say the average room size was 4'X8'X8'Tall?

If you could open the door and fan the room out a couple times a day it should work well.

Try a HEPA, it works wonders. Cleans the air quite well gets rid of most airborne contams I belive.

I would definitely put a hepa filter in the room. Is that air exchange though? I guess what I'm really asking is does there have to be fresh air intake from outside the room and an exit blow hole?
Thanks!!

Ok this is my lab:
I have an 80mm fan mounted on the side of it in the back:
I also have a HEPA running inside. I have the fan on a timer, hepa goes all the time. Humidifiers and light also on timer. I have it setup so it vaporizes for a few hours then kicks on the light and fan to evaporate excess water and exchange the air.
Works pretty good!

maybe if your house is very clean otherwise you could be bringing in lots of airborne shit into your grow environment.
Of the grow rooms I have seen most have a large plastic enclosure that is zippered or sealed some other way and then with an air pump and filters and shit going in and an exhaust tube going on.
Search around, there are a few examples that have been posted

I would think a hepa would give air exchange. It would suck in the surrounding air that has CO2, filter that out, and blow out clean oxygen.

i don't thinka hepa would do that. It filters the air of microbiological matter like dust, smoke, spores. I am fairly certain that it doesn't convert c02 into oxygen.

The pros use a "mixing box" for there growrooms. BTW HEPAs do not filter co2 I'd post pics but I can't post them for some reason :P

Did I read correctly that someone said a HEPA would convert CO2 to O2? That is absolutely not the case unless I am way behind on my air filtration knowledge. You need a fresh air intake(HEPA filtered) in the room(for initiating pinning and during the fruiting period) along with recirculated HEPA air earlier in the process. Get yourself a copy of The Mushroom Cultivator. It describes everything perfectly for such grow rooms.

anyone ever tried a diver style c02 scrubber??? it would cut down on contams because you wouldnt have to introduce new air all the time. im researching right now homemade c02 scrubber http://www.rebreathers.ca/sodasorb.htm

Yea HEPA only cleans the air it doesn't make oxygen. It does however help draw outside air into wherever it is cuz it SUCKS.
Just buy one at wally world, i got one mail delivered for like 25 bux.
