Poisonous lookalikes to liberty caps?

Today I went on my first hunt and found loads of mushrooms that seem to fit the description of liberty caps, but since I'm new to hunting it's possible I'm wrong. I read up on loads of websites and I've even got a book and to me they seem right. Is it possible I've picked a poisonous mushroom by mistake? I know this is a basic question but if anyone could offer some advice it'd make me a lot more confident about eating what I found. Cheers!

Well, you are going to have to read a description. Check out the forum rules thread and there is a template for you there.
You're smart to be careful, BTW. Don't eat anything you don't know what it is.
Also, if you can get photos of the shrooms, it would help a ton.

Conocybe lactea would be one you most definitely don't want to eat.

The biggest problem is that whether two different mushrooms look alike has a lot to do with the knowledge and experience of the person looking. Mushrooms that I think are not very similar you may think are identical looking. So saying that a mushroom looks like some kind of mushroom is not generally a very meaningful statement.
Liberty Caps fall into the general mushroom category of LBMs (Little Brown Mushrooms). Several species of LBMs are deadly poisonous, many are poisonous (not likely to kill you - just make you very sick), and most are unknown.
As a general group, LBMs are *very* difficult to identify accurately to species, often even to genus. Because of that, and because many of them are poisonous, unless you can be certain of an identification they should not be eaten.
Happy mushrooming!

Thanks everyone. I'm going back today. Maybe I can find someone experienced because it is a hotspot for mushroom pickers. I've got too much to live for at the moment to take the risk! Thanks again for the advice
