goblin painting

started this last night... just a random piece for my portfolio. Based off a sketch I did about a month ago. Painted from scratch in photoshop.... not sure if I want to take it in a serious/warrior direction, or a more comedic one (swim trunks and a martini, anyone?)
here's 3 progress shots.... one of the advantages that comes with compulsive saving, I have tons of files from every stage of my shtuff
I'll try to keep posting progress as I work on it.... if I stop updating, someone please come kick me in the face.

Yeah dude I'd love to see more steps in your progress, it's quite interesting. Really shows your style and how you think.
He doesn't seem to be in a conducive pose for a comedic scene, but I s'pose you could always think of one!

wow, very cool! i think you should go serious on this one... if you wanna put a bit of comedy in there he IS a goblin... so any mischievious behavior or background stuff would do

ok, for some real critiques...
Its really good for early digital paint work.
But i think you need to work more on your coloring
You need more than Red in there.
Some blue in the shadows.
Some yellow, and orange in the highlights.
Theres a lot you can do to make it more interesting.
But right now its just too much variation of the same Red/Pink color.
And also, I presonally dont like how the teeth are done. But thats minor.
Overall, really good.
-------------------- that there, thats not me. i go where i please. im not here. this isnt happening.

A finelooking beastie!
I'm more partial to greenskins as this fiery red looks a bit hellish but he's got that natural look of a Goblin who just discovered he bought an ounce of catnip If I were you I'd elongate his eartip some more, it brings out his animal side.
He's like a Goblin from old Europen fairytales, or perhaps from "The Hobbit"-book, as he's far to goodlooking to be a LOTR movie Goblin.
His weapon would be a stick with the bark still on it. He's got the stare that shows defiant aggression but has fear inside: He's obviously in a standoff with an Orc, scared shitless because he has bitten more off then he could chew.
Nice work, keep at it!

for what its worth i find the neck spectacular but doesnt really seem to fit the head shade. i think making the rest of the body more richer/deeper, not as intense as teh neck but more than what it is, would make it look 100 times better. but them it already looks stellar!
eyes, bone structure, ears, nose are all wonderfull i think, teeth i agree are a little odd. but its easy to say all this when im not the one doing it
