Check-in here!

Can we get some rain here on the lower mainland or what? Maybe if we collectively hope for rain together it will rain.

well it PISSED for 2/3 of september.  we had an unusually wet september.  i liek the sun, it gives my plants time to finish up outdoors now .  either way, weed or shrooms i aint complaining.

at least its beautifull walking around here rain or shine

i have found lotsa edibles and muscarinas in higher elevations though.  im finding WAY more the higher i go up.  maybe check some mountians near your area.

I can't wait for the rain!

I've found a few patches of magics in the last week and I want them to get watered and pop up a few more lovely babies

I'm in the l.mainland as well and just went hiking, and although we haven't had any rain in the last week , there still doesn't seem to be any shortage of mush growing. I found lots of boletes yesterday.

I am from the lower mainland as well. I started hunting two years ago and all I found were baeos; they we're sooo good, btw. Last year I was sick for months - GI tract was all screwed up - so I didn't do any hunting at all.
Just looking through the Shroomery's Ultimate Mushroom Guide and the list of active species that have been found in BC is larger than I thought it would be:

British Columbia
Amanita muscaria (Ammirati et al., 1985)
Amanita pantherina (Ammirati et al., 1985)
Conocybe cyanopus (Atkins) Kuhner. (Stamets, 1993).
Gymnopilus luteofolius (Peck) Singer. (Stamets, 1996).
Psilocybe baeocystis Singer & Smith. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe cyanafibrillosa Guzm?n & Stamets.
Psilocybe cyanescens Wakefield. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe fimetaria (Orton) Watling. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe pelliculosa (Smith) Singer & Smith. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe semilanceata (Fr.) Kummer. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe sierrae (Stamets, 1996; Guzm?n, 1983)
Psilocybe silvatica (Peck) Singer & Smith.
Psilocybe strictipes Singer & Smith=Psilocybe callosa. (Stamets, 1996).
Psilocybe stuntzii Guzm?n & Ott. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Psilocybe subfimetaria Guzm?n & Smith. (Guzm?n, 1983).
Panaeolus subbalteatus Berkeley & Broome.

Just wondering, have any of you guys ever found or tripped off of Pan Subbs?

I've found a few patches of stuff up here on the north coast. I've heard that people around here have had good results up in the mountain around here. I also wanna make a trip over to the queen charlottes, cause apparenty the liberty caps are everywhere over there this year. It's also been faily dry up here too the last week... we seriously need some rain, but thank god that its suppose to rain all week here coming up.

Finally! There was so much rain today!
Can't wait to go do some real hunting on Friday.

I think I am going to post all of my finds this season on this thread.

I went for a walk near my house today and spotted a few mushrooms. I waited until night to pick one of each kind. There was a large cluster, probably 30-40, of the one on the left growing in grass neaby bushes and trees where it is most likely shady most of the time. I forget what they're called; someone on the board IDed them for me last year. The cluster was tight, they were almost growing on top of each other!
The mushroom on the right was snatched from somebody's lawn.

And the undersides...

I can't wait to find some actives.

Havn't read all of this thread but I'm from central van island I I'm just having a ball watching all the different shrooms pop up.  There is a very large park near where I live and I walk through it after every rain.  Looking for new (too me) species.

The colours are great!

I just aquired "Mushrooms Demystified" and have been trying to identify the most common shrooms I see around here.  I'm pretty sure most of the shrooms I'm fiding in my favourite park are Russulas of some sort.

It's funny... the shrooms popping up in my yard, the ones I look at the most are the hardest for me to identify.  Mostly LBMs with one patch of larger ones  I can't seem to pin down.  I'll get it someday   Maybe I'll even ask for an ID here sometime.

My goal is not so much to find actives (would be nice) but to learn the commons in my area.  Especially edibles even though I've never eaten any and won't on my own for a while... a little paranoia is a good thing I guess.

Anyway, have fun in BC, and have fun island side!
