My sick salvia
    #3207828 - 10/02/04 09:24 PM (13 years, 18 days ago)

I'e never been very good with salvia and it's starting to show.

Awhile ago it got rot and I was forced to cut it down to a shoot growing out of the soil. Now it's stopped growing at around two feet and all the leaves are curling downwards around the edges. It needs support to even stand up. I've been fertilizing and giving it plenty of humidity but it's still not happy about something.

Anyone have a clue what might be wrong with it?

Is the soil loose and airy? I find that salvia likes loose soil, add lots of perlite to it. Also, I only fertilize once a month, or maybe even two. I dont have mine in any humididty, its just in my room. Also, I add liquid silicon to the water, helps the leaves a lot I've seen. My lighting is just blinds twisted open half way, so they're paralell to the floor.

Hope this helps.

I used vermiculite in my soil.

I just got my plants though so it is hard to tell what is going to happen, they are still in shock from the wild ride the took from the West coast.

My soil consists of regular potting soil, peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite, with rocks at the bottom for good drainage. Drainage is extremely important to Sally Dee.

Does salvia like Acidic or alkaline soil?

The soil is a mix of john inns #3, perlite and rabbit poop. It's in a spot that gets direct sunlight shielded by an hbwr.

Maybe theres some specific nutrient it's lacking? I fertilize once a month with worm castings.
