“Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the peripheral of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? oh, squiggly line, it’s alright, you are forgiven. ” - Stewie Griffin

It isn't exactly tripping forever. But some people do change, after heavy dosing. Those that end up in the mental institution where probably bound to end up there at some point, but still others are forever changed and everybody around them will agree. Just use moderation with psychedelics, they are not harmless and they are very powerful. If you are mentally healthy and use moderation you will be fine.

That's from the movie SLC punk..... Well the sheet of acid and sprinkler thing is. The orange juice part is a myth not related to the movie.

Yea the whole tripping forever thinking he was a glass of orange juice thing is most likely not true. I remember hearing this in high school but it was more of a scare tactic/ urban legend. I remember that it was that reason why I didn't want to trip. But yea it's fake. So for all you underage ignorrant shroomerites. They told you the wrong info.

Something like that. Longer explanation : I read that they are proteins that wind up inside the eyeball during embryonic development. When the eyes moves, they shift position and if light falls in at the right angle, you can see them. When you don't see them, they are stationary. It's as simple as that. They are an entoptic phenomenon, meaning that they are caused by a condition in the eyeball itself, instead of originating from a modulation of sensory input in the visual cortex like typical visuals on psychedelics.
Look up floaters on wikipedia if you want an even more detailed explanation that, unlike mine, (probably) wasn't written at half past eight in the morning by someone who got smoked out with a metric fuckton of weed.
Anyway, as far as seeing more floaters after psychedelic experiences is concerned :
I could imagine that nystagmus (eye wiggle) causes people to see more floaters. The eye is kept in constant movement, which would easily make those proteins in your eyeball jitter around like crazy, making them more visible. LSD, for example, causes horizontal nystagmus while people are under it's effects, so they often see more floaters than usual in phases of the trip without other pronounced visuals that would distract/overlay the floaters. You may notice that a lot of things you have seen on psychedelics become more fascinating afterwards, because you have conditioned yourself to associate them with a profound experience in your life. This makes you pay more attention to them and suddenly, you recognize them all the time, in situations where you just would have overlooked them before.
Another explanation could be that increased nystagmus or other erratic involuntary eye movements are also a possible mid- to long term aftereffect of taking acid, but i suppose someone should have noticed that by now with such a well-researched drug and i haven't come across that in almost a year of reading up everything i could find on LSD, no matter wether it's from positively or negatively biased or neutral sources.
In conclusion, it's neither surprising nor in any way alarming that people see more floaters after having taken LSD.
