Input on this idea and setup..lighting ? too
    #3206965 - 10/02/04 02:22 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

Well i need some ideas here. I have been growing mushrooms through the PF tek for awhile now, but haven't yielded that much. I had 5 cakes going, and the first flush yielded 28.4 wet grams. I don't know how good that is..

Basically, i'm growing in a house (the basement which is a half room) and i need some ideas here. We need to increase yield FAST because..we just need to. Casing a way to go?

I have no clue on casing, and i went through the TEKS but i didn't see any that are relevent should i say..

what i'm asking for here is..i have a big box of vermiculite, BRF, fish tank heater, all that jazz...what would be the best casing tek to follow, what substrate should i use (that proves the simplest with the best results) and any other tips would be great.

Also, CAN I USE ARTIFICIAL LIGHT with cakes? or does it have to be indirect natural sunlight?

thanks..any responses are awesome.

edit: went through teks again, came across:

^^^^^^^^^on this TEK, what casing substrate is used? What are the conditions and requirements for the fruiting chamber of a casing? is this a good one to follow? what is the best (in your opinion, best yielding etc) casing mix to use?

PLEASE help us out in detail, we're trying to grow so hard yet not getting all that much at all.

Artificial light is ok. An easy casing mix is coco coir / verm.

Check it out.

Also, patience is key to this hobby. Rushing or stressing out because it is taking too long will not benefit you at all.

If 28.5 is per cake that ok.If all 5 cakes,BUMMER.I normaly get about 30 gr wet per 1/2pt.

Try the 50 /50 casing tek or ^^^^^ That tek. and yes you can use artifical light

Good Luck

I think you need to chill for a sec. Before you get these high yeild cassing your going to need to read a lot more. You have too many questions to answer. Im not trying to be mean or anything but before you start you need to know what your doing. Good luck.

high and i mean high yields a problem for you?
got lots of cash?($200-$300)
make 10-20 of these  bad boyz

perlite instead of geolite will save $

remember it takes time to grow shrooms
there are a few things that can be done to speed things up a bit, but they usually require a little practical experience to master...
:goodluck:
