Keeping Humidity down?
    #320691 - 05/19/01 03:38 AM (23 years, 6 months ago)

Ok here's the deal.....I live in a Southern California Coastal Community where the relative humidity is pretty much ALWAYS in the 90%+ range....

Anyone have any ideas on how to keep the humidity levels down in my container without comprimising sterility?

I just use small rubbermaid container so its not like I can use a dehumidifier or anything and its not like damp-rid would work properly it would just suck all the moisture from the casings.

My complication is I need to keep the casings moist but the air a little dryer...can't figure out how to do this. I think I am having a few to many aborts because the humidity level is too high. I am getting ok flushes (My most recent flush -4th flush- was 1/2 oz so far and I proably have another 1/8 to 1/4 still drying but I think they could be better

I try and fan more often but that I can only do so much.

I am trying to solve my abort problem....does it even sound like this might be what is causing it? and if so am I on the right track? Any hints/suggestions would help?

well I initially started with perilite...but I took that out because it was just too humid in there...it helped some...I am using no humidification right now except misting

I'd say mist a little less every day..
You could also install a fish air pump, to increase air exchange and if you were running it dry it would decrease the humidity.

My only suggestions are:

- Try heating a little from the top (w/ a light possibly?)
- PM McMan
