What over the counter or not is used to bring someone back
    #3205975 - 10/02/04 07:19 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I read somewhere people keep a pill or 2 of something for emergency if someone starts tripping to hard(mushies) and it will bring them back to reality...

Thanks

A fast-acting benzodiazepine is the most practical modern cure. Ask your dealer about Xanax. Better yet, don't set yourself up for a bad trip.

Nothing over-the-counter.

OTC...
well, some antihistamines are closely related to the phenothiazines (compazine, thorazine, stelazine, etc.) - some folks find that a low dose of diphenhydramine (benadryl) or something similar can sorta slow things down... but be careful, 'cause high doses of antihistamines can be dangerous &/or trippy if ya take too much, mmmkay?

also, WiccanSeeker has a nice FAQ on niacinamide & psychedelics --- check it out...
or utfse for previous posts on this topic & for sure you will run across my rants on vitamin B3 & dr abram hoffer...
ok

Xanax or valium. Nothing over the counter is gonna really do much.

Niacinamide. I have it, never has used it while tripping, but when I take it it seems to relax my anxiety a bit. So I'd imagine it works well during a trip, and if anything its a placebo and that works too.

Valium definantly calms one down. It won't "bring them back" though...

You'd get as much effect giving someone an aspirin and telling them this will make everything ok.

I'm surprized no one said Niacin. You can find that in a good old cup of OJ.

OJ will take a trip down quite a few levels, but won't kill it unless you drink a ton.

Watch out when you mix shit with benzo's.

My friend almost died from mixing zanex (a benzo) and alchohol.

That's because they're both CNS depressants, which can lead to respiratory failure.

Mushrooms, on the other hand, if it gets too intense and panicky for the person, a benzo would bring them down without any negative interactions.

I'd opt for the placebo first, tho.

Thank you.

There's a lot of pharmaceutical ignorance on this board :/ We need a drug interaction FAQ so people don't spread so much bullshit or ask as many interaction questions.

Well, here is my 2 cents, but not based off of actual experience.... Wiccan Seeker, please correct me if I am wrong.... Kanna has been noted to be a weak SSRI, and is also noted in the writings for it that it can be used to help abort a mushroom trip.... It was never stated what mushroom species that it was supposed to abort.... MAYBE, and I say, maybe the SSRI effect of the Kanna works at the same serotonin receptors as shroomz, and over power them - thus bringing the trip down...? Again, this is just from the little reading I have found on it, so I don't know if it actually werks~....

On personal experience, I know of a perscription drug that will smack you in the face, and leave your shroom trip dripping on the floor.... I take Ultram - it is a "moderate" pain reliever that acts on different receptors of the brain.... I think primarally the mu-opiode receptor, but a few others also - because it is also perscribed for depression.... One time about a year ago, I was trippin, and I was having a little back pain, so I decided to take a few Ultrams as perscribed.... At about the 45 minute mark, I got really sick to my stomach, and started sweating my ass off almost in an instant.... I was standing there in a state of bliss one moment, and the next I was wondering if I could make it to the closest sink - it was that fast.... My mouth started watering, and I thought I was gonna~ puke for sure.... All of the sudden it was like my fever broke, and the sweats got that cold relieving feeling, and my stomach calmed down, and my trip was COMPLETELY over.... All of the trip effects I had were completely gone in a matter of 1-2 minutes max.... I was fine after that, and just left with the "what the hell just happened" thoughts...!

So, Kanna was just what I know from the descriptions of it, but Ultram makes for a violent end to a trip.... Not something I would suggest tho~, because it might effect someone else in a much negative way - kinda~ goes along with the funny "drugs don't mix" cartoon above.... Just writing my experience for ya~...!

ChoW~

If someone is in my circle is having a bad time, I just give them half of E, and tell them I gave them the cure and they are going to be okay, and try to keep them calm for about 5-10 minutes. Usually by the time they feel E, it's all about how great they feel.

If I'm having a bad time, I try to find myself something to get distracted. Do silly things like starting a game of hide and seek with my invisible friend and look through things I haven't look through in years. Just anything to get me distracted long enough to shift my mindset.
