writing while on a trip

the first time I tripped I for some reason felt compelled to keep a record of the experience. I ended up with a page of some very interesting thoughts and ramblings on. has anybody else here done anything like that, wrote something or did something to keep record?

I havent either. I find it hard to put some of the things I experience into words, and therefore rely on my mental journal to record the trip.

Ya I notice that too - you have all these amazing feelings and such but you try to write it on paper and it doesn't translate, leaves you frustrated, and it looks absolutely retarded the next day.
But how about a sample of your ramblings Nakata?

A lot of people have kept a written record of their trips, and its a good idea, it just seems like it might be difficult to accurately describe what happens to me while trippin with words. However, since Ive never tried it, I think next time I'll give it a shot.

I tried many time before. Logs start out okay, then for about 2 hours nothing... then you remember to write again and get stuck watching the damn clock or something... it's always something... Afterglow seems to be the right time, but things don't match up with what I wrote and what I remember. I tried video camera once... but it was almost too painful to watch myself like that. And the magic just isn't there. Maybe I'll try a tape recorder some day...

"I understand everything and nothing all at the same time and I hear THE APHEX TWIN and I get it. Its like I understand and I know man I know exactly what I am feeling and I don?t, and I know where I belong. What am I saying? I can see al aspects of all realities and I hope I can make it through and see unit to the end oh god why I dot get it I cant make them understand they wont listen"
thats just a small bit of it

Bring out the markers and make some pretty drawings. it's a lot more fun and less frustrating than trying to put your experience into words. draw the music! draw the music, man!! ahhhhhhhaaaahh

I think drawing can be just as interesting, and in some ways better to understand what was going on when you look at it, if ya know what im sayin...

I think drawing will be interesting, too. I always get side tracked when I'm trying to concentrating on something... Maybe having to see what I what I was working on will help lengthen my attention span.
Tape recorder, I'll definitely try. But I don't know how I'm going to manage to remember to replace the tapes. I'd probably end up pressing rewind and talking into it...

I've been interested in recording the "epiphanies" I feel I have while tripping ever since I first began experimenting with mushrooms. I've found it's much easier to write what I feel than about what I'm experiencing. Letting the words flow, not worrying about what I'm writing and focusing on nothing in particular have always helped me. I also like to draw if the mood takes me (which tends to yield some extremely interesting sketches) but it usually doesn't. I've recorded audio and video of myself while tripping, but it usually just seems like rambling and yields very little in terms deeper learning.
As far as making sense of what I write after the fact (something even the most experienced trippers would say is a task unto itself) I try to visualize exactly what I was seeing or feeling (whatever is strongest) at the particular moment I was writing. This allows me to gain further insight into what I wrote, and I honestly believe that I have made serious spiritual ground upon reflection of some of my trips.
Good luck with whatever you try.
