Im a bit confused and can not find if Amanita muscaria var. formosa are edible or not. I'm thinking that they are edible if prepaired (cooked) properly. Help me clear things up. I want to eat these buggers.
Amanita muscaria var. formosa contains ibotenic acid, muscimol and muscarine,t he same toxins found in the regtular Amanita muscaria, amanita gemmata, Amanita patherina and a few other species. they are basically not an edible food amanita and playing with that genera can be like playing with fire. Some people like the experience and report rewarding moments. Most get sick, vomit and nausea and bad stomcah cramps and muscle twitches, minor convulsive physical movements and very uncomfortable misery for 6-8 hours.
