    #3202672 - 10/01/04 03:32 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

the martha - name of the martha stewart portable closet.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43510&item=4327786477&rd=1

can I put that inside of it? It's 10" tall, but it's not the capacity that matters I want to know if it's safe to run it inside of the closet?

That is not a HEPA filter....

They certainly remove things from the air, but it cannot be compared to a 99.97% HEPA filter.

Just a thought, but that uses electricity to attract dust particals and such from the air by ionizing the air and then attracting it. If used in a enclosed space with a large amount of water it could short things out. I would be carefull if you plan on putting the entire thing in there.

I doubt it would be a problem. I mean, there are certainly parts of the country that see 100% humidity for extended periods of time. As long as it's non-condensing, nothing would short out.

Since condensation forms on things that are cooler than ambient, and the unit consumes 10 watts.. it's safe to assume that it won't be colder than ambient air, so condensation won't form on it.

Let us know how it goes if you use it. Be warned though, that those type of air "filters" a'la the Ionic Breeze are being watched closly by the FTC.... mostly because they often don't live up to their claims.

I would say that in a very small enclosed space, it could be moderately effective. Still nothing compared to a 99.97 or 99.99% 0.3 micron HEPA filter, though.

There are some very cheap ones on eBay. I'd research them before jumping on this.
