cutting cakes
    #3200647 - 09/30/04 04:03 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

i am looking forward to (hopefully) fruti a bunch of cakes that were done PF tek style. The hting is i used regular mouth ball jars becasue i couldn't locate any wide mouth back when i started. This kinda sets up a problem becasue since they are narrower and taller, i have a fear that they will tip over while in the fruiting chamber when it becomes unbalanced with mushroom growth. I came up with the idea that i could slice the cake in half right down the middle, so i would have two little mini cakes. Then i would dunk, roll, and double end case. I understand that the mushrooms would be alot smaller than they woudl be on a whole cake, but could this possibly even raise my yeild? Whats everyone's opinion on this.

Do you think this could raise my overall yeild if i cut the cakes, rather than fruting them whole?

My grandpa and friends have cut cakes, and they say it almost doubles yeild. They say it's because you are creating more surface area.  :rasta:

You could just got a little bit further and just cut the cake out and make a casing from it, casings are good as well

kramer has worked a lot with casings and has got to say if your fruiting any type of grain be it rye, wbs,brf,ect...you can save a lot of time with a quick dunk and roll as the roll is a casing of sorts...toss it in a pmp and your good to go go baby!
just a dip in the grip...

I agree with paco. Slice them bad boys down and case them in a disposable foil baking tray, youll never turn back.
