to say 'favourite strain' we'd have to have grown them all, and i bet the number of people who've done that is pretty limited.
of the few i've tried, malabar was the most fruitful, cambodian the most visual.

This must be the most commonly asked question here. Maybe we need a Frequesntly Asked FAQ thread?
FAQ: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23248
They're all very close to the same, and for a beginner whose less-than-perfect technique is likely to account for a huge variation in yield and potency, the tiny variations from one strain to another will be lost in the noise.
You'll get more mileage out of reading the FAQ and improving your technique than you will ever get out of choosing one strain over another.
Later, when you have more experience, you'll learn the subtle quirks of each strain and be able to exploit them to improve yield and potency.
The only good advice about strain selection for a newbie is to stay away from oddball strains like Penis Envy or glow-in-the-dark strains.
Good luck!

John Ashcroft just had some qt jars that got a bacillus in them and EQ kicked the shit out of it. John Ashcroft has yet to eat them though.

i like eqs and huautlas, now i think about every strain has been listed, so... its whatever you like really, so do what im doing and systematically try them all. and then try them all again, and again, and again.

Though limited in experience with various strains, EQ's grew fast, in quantity, and were potent. Though other factors could account for it (besides strain), worst experience was with Treasure Coast one.
Recent experience suggests that "Creeper" is much slower to colonize than "EQ's" are (from Lil'Shop of Spores). Not sure about B+ at this time.
