Theres been a whole lot of people from Mass. ask that same question and we tell them yes Panaeolus subbalteatus does grow there in the wild, during late spring/early summer, in rotted hay, hay, haystacks and horse stables around hay shavings(?) Anyways, I cant remember a single person on this message board ever reporting actually finding them there..
There were these huge hay bails that rotted all winter long every week I check these but I find nothing ... I will probably check out this horse farm down the road from me I hope I will find some here in the big heap where they put all the stable shavings and horse crap.
