Need ID. almost positive there P. Subbs.
    #3197737 - 09/29/04 09:43 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

hey guys, I found these mushrooms going in front lawn, and in the back by some flowers. My parents recently had a huge truck load of fertilized dirt and wood chips brought over and we spread it everywhere, and since then these mushrooms have been poppin up everywhere. I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion there P. Subbs. i just wanted to get some opinions. also wanted to know if they would be active or not.

-there size ranges from 2-3 cent. to about 4-6cent
-cap is caramel brown when young and gets lighter as i've seen in older ones. almost white to a pale yellow
-stem is brown, hollow, stringy, white powder everywhere, vertical grooves running along side of it. no bluing, when damaged, but some of them have some blue at the bottom of the stem.
- i took two spore prints of different ones, and they where both black.

here are some pics, please let me know what you guys think.

Does there seem to be little white hairs sticking out of the stem? Also are the vertical lines running up it look as if the stem has been twisted?

Due to the fat-ass stems I'd say yeah those are most definatly subbs. plus the gills are fairly close and don't hang below the margin.

Do you know what the dirt and woodchips were fertilized with?

the white hairs seem to be sticking out.
the vertical lines seemed to be straight on the baby shrooms. but some of the bigger ones look twisted
