once mushrooms have fruited how should one take care of them? what should one do to maximize fruiting? is it hard to to differentiate between 'overlay' and 'Knotting'? Should i mist the fruiting shrooms? i have them growing on a mass of compost in a rubbermaid container with a lighti fan in air at least once a day. any suggestions for maximizing fruiting is welcomed and appreciated. thanks.

Transpiration is how water is transported through the tissues of the mushroom this is one of the biggest factors in making the most of what you got, this means plenty of fresh air and moisture in your casing and RH. A good pinning strategy is probably #1 in maximizing yields IME also very important is substrate choice BRF simply does not yield well compared to grains, straw, straw/dung. You can still get beautiful looking grows but they will be lightweight yields compared to other substrates. Overlay is a flatten mat with little to no pins/knots, you should see substrate evenly throughout the casing, maybe the spots will be as small as, well heres a pic of a perfectly initiated casing surface as you can see it's light and dark (peppered) evenly. There is no overlay on this casing.

Here is a small overlayed patch:
