1st time grow- PF cakes
    #3192505 - 09/28/04 07:45 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Hi all! It's my first time growing, used the PF tek. 2 of my cakes have stopped pinning or producing anything new, after the first flush. It was very small, 3-6 pins on each cake, only a couple matured. It's been about 2 weeks and nothing new is happening. Would cold-shocking help at this point? Also, can I case these cakes that have been in the terrarium for about a month? I'm using perlite humidification, fanning 2x daily, temp is about 75-78. Any recommendations would be great!
Thanks

welcome to the shroomery! you could try coldshocking but i think it would of been to long, did you dunk after the first flush? fanning 2x a day is what probably caused them to stall, you need to fan alot more 6 is ideal. you can try and crumble one up and put it as a casing and see how it goes

I'd say you need to dunk your cakes for 24 hours, put them back in the terrarium, fan a little more often, make sure they are getting enough light, and wait. Hopefully they are not too far gone and will fruit again.

Well, I didn't dunk after the first flush because I'm pretty new to this and although I've read the dunk teks, it seems to me like it would turn the cakes all blue and mushy and gross. These are my first couple jars and I wanted to wait and see how they'd do to see what i need to fix to get a better yield. I also keep a little plant in the terrarium. Also, I forgot to mention, one of the older cakes has kind of tannish blue/black colors running over part of it. Is it any good any more or should I scrap it?

You need to get that blue/black cake out of there ASAP. It will contam your other cakes.
